Many students struggle with ADHD and feel like reading, school, or assignments are overwhelming and impossible. At Tucson Tutor, we used research-based strategies to help support students with ADHD in order to make their learning successful. Strategies include a multi-sensory learning approach, aiding students with routine and organization skills, timers and visual cues, individualized learning plans, breaking skills/concepts into smaller chunks, and working with incentives to keep students motivated.
Dyslexia is more common than we think and many students struggle with low self-confidence because of it. Tucson Tutor uses a research-based approach adapted from Orton Gillingham which systematically teaches phonics and reading, building upon skills as students progress through the program. Students participate in a diagnostic test to see where they place in the multi-stepped program. They have access to paired readings that help them practice concepts being taught and individualized sessions are tailored to fit the students' needs. Tucson Tutor uses a strengths-based and multi-sensory approach to help students develop confidence, improve skills, and feel confident and empowered.
*Tucson Tutor cannot make medical/psychological diagnoses but can support students that already have ADHD/Dyslexia diagnoses.*
*Tucson Tutor is not a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor at this time. It is a goal to obtain that certification, but Tucson Tutor uses an approach based on the research and science of Orton-Gillingham.*
