Students with reading struggles often need extra support in building certain skills that they may have felt confused about or missed somewhere along the way. I work with students of all ages who are struggling with reading and work to support them with the specific needs that they have.
Before working with a student, I administer a grade-level-appropriate diagnostic test to see where their strengths and weaknesses are. After going over the results of the test with the student and family, we develop a plan to help support your student where they are struggling, whether that be with phonics, spelling, grammar, decoding, fluency, details, or comprehension.
I work with students ranging from Kindergarten - 12th grade to help them build their confidence as a reader again. We establish key building blocks, making sure that young readers have a strong phonetical awareness and foundation. I work with students on decoding strategies, phonics, spelling practice, grammar- rules, fluency, breaking down reading passages, comprehension, big ideas in reading, key details in reading, using context and visuals to support reading gaps and specific and action-based goals to help incentivize them to keep moving forward and pushing them towards success.
