Our students are carrying around a lot. They've got notebooks, binders, lunches, water bottles, folders, gym clothes, you name it! And it's all stuffed in their backpack, and sometimes that's when important papers or books get lost in the void. I work with students to help them develop organization skills, learn to prioritize tasks, and keep on top of their responsibilities.
Our kids want to do well, but when they're faced with a study guide and a test they feel confused about, it's hard to know where to start. I work with students to help them develop after-school routines to support their homework habits, strategies to help them advocate for themselves in class, and tools to add to their repertoire to help them be successful at school and at home.
Having things out of place is a common way that students get behind, misplace important assignments, and begin to feel overwhelmed or anxious. I work with students to help them create an organizational system for their backpacks, lockers, and workspaces. We work on utilizing tools, planners, folders, and reminder systems to help students feel empowered and in control of their belongings and schedules.
